Here are a few twitter updates about the book. I did not know about the new rerelease of Love Hina, I found out about that by mistake, however, I did know about this art book before hand. When I mentioned the twitter updates abou the release, I thought I should mention the updates for the art book as well. So here they are:

This is my review for now.

This book does not collate all of the Love Hina promotional art. It is not inedequate, or nescessarily incomplete, it is simply that there is compramise to fit the best/most popular pieces, most important pieces, and Ken Akamtu's favourite pieces. However, it does seem that the most important/best art has been negated in favour of a few lewd works for the sake of assuring sales. In saying that, it appears that this will be a series and there will be multiple volumes of Collectioned Paintings of Ken Akamtsu and this is merely the first. This books functions great as an artist trajectory but not so much as a definitive collection is what I am saying. Nore should it be a definfinitve collection. However, it would have been nice for it to have included one of the dreamcast game covers, some of the music album covers, the Love Hina Volume 7 cover the depicts the characters studying and enjoing the Summer while on the Hinata rooftop, or the Love Hina volume 14 cover that depicts the wedding scene. Don't forget that there are pencils and preliminary sketches (draft works) , however, there could have been more.

Besides all of this, I would rate it higher if it had  production information, interviews, and trivia. I think I will give it a 6/10 on those grounds and an 8 in general. If you are a fan of Ken Akamatsu (or you like his illustrations), I think you will enjoy this. I have to say that it does feel like it has overlooked a few pieces, has neglected the draft pieces, and it would be more desireable to have commentary from the artist. As a book it feels a little incomplete (moreso without the commentary) but as a series of collections it would be better as a whole in comparison to the single book. You may have noticed, I have not mentioned the quality of the prints or the book itself etc. What the book has done it does well. Perhaps the pages could have been glossy instead of matte, the cover a hard cover, some pieces larger than others, or the double page spreads could have been seamed together better but that is nitpicking I suppose. Quality does come to mind as an issue, it is the lack of content. However, there will be more volumes which means that the rating will not portray the series as a whole.

Assuming there will be no further volumes for whatever reason:
If you are a Love Hina fan, I would suggest collecting the Love Hina Omnibus series for the exclusive concept art reveal (the original release does not contain all of these pieces of concept art) and finding a copy of Love Hina Mugendai which contains all of the promotional art and some side art (it also includes reference/trivia, interviews, production inforomation, character profiles, and supporting material). Don't confuse Love Hina Mugendai (Infinity) for Love Hina 0. Another good collection of art is the Love Hina 0-14 CD-ROM. I have seen that there are (long lost/rare) art postcards/trading cards as well. There are postcard sized art prints for different projects that are released as sets (for example, the Top 100 New York Times Covers), finding all of these Love Hina cards would be like buying a set of these cards. It is an intersting idea. By the way, excluding the omnibus series, these suggested collections are Japanese exclusives and therefore are only available in Japanese. That shouldn't be an issue if you are just looking for an art book/compilation.
